Researchers find earth's rarest elements in alaska

Researchers find earth's rarest elements in alaska
CALIFORNIA - A unique sediment of the rarest elements that is in Earth, found at Bokan Mountain Alaska. This finding could help scientists understand the formation process or rare earth elements (REE).

This research was carried by the scientists dar iSaint Mary's University in Halifax and the Geological Survey, United States. Researchers revealed that the elements or rare earth elements this is important, but is very rare to find.

This element is usually that are used in components for electronics and technology in the field of defense. Studied geology and how these elements can appear is an important step to can determine where the REE concentrations that may can be found.

REE consists of 17 elements, including Yttrium, Scandium, 15 members or types of Lanthanide series. The 17 elements this then divided into groups of mild and heavy REE, which relies on atomic weight.

Light REE is more often dominant in the sediment. While at Bokan Mountain Alaska, heavy REE elements (HREE) reportedly more often found.

HREE are very valuable for producing quality small sized magnets, which is commonly used in smartphones and tablet devices. The magnets can also be used to improve the ability mesi and transmission until use of operation in high temperatures.

Mount Bokan is one of storage place the rare element, which is concentrated and can be produced more efficient. "Our work in southeastern Alaska demonstrate the potential of a viable, world-class supply of rare earth elements from domestic resources," said Jaroslav Dostal, Saint Mary's University researchers.

To determine how this rare precipitate formed at Bokan Mountain. Dostal analyzing the granite using geochemical technology and isotopic analysis, and then compared the results he did with other granite.
